In K-5th grades we use a variety of math products, manipulatives, and programs to ensure that our students are learning essential math concepts to make them better prepared to take on the challenges of advanced math courses in middle, high school, and on the college level.
Everyday Math- Students learn math concepts by exploring and investigating math concepts through group work, math games, and teacher instruction. The algorithm, or "recipe", for solving problems are discovered, not explicitly taught to the student at first. This math program "looks" different from the more traditional style of introducing a topic and then having the students practice it using a number of practice problems listed after the lesson.
